The Cape Fear River may look calm and slow around Fayetteville but between Lillington and Erwin the river is characterized by rocks and islands that create exciting class I and II rapids. Several long stretches of flat water do leave time to enjoy the scenery of this beautiful stretch of the river. Trip is dependent on water conditions. Some experience preferred. Boats, helmets and PFDs provided. Register by June 6, space is limited.
Meet at 121 Lamon Street at 8:30 am. Transportation will be provided to the river. We will return approximately around 4 pm.
Dress for the weather, synthetic clothing is best because it dries faster than cotton. Layers are good for days that start off cooler. An outer layer that is windproof and water resistant/proof is a good idea. Wear shoes you do not mind getting wet and muddy, no flip flops. Bring a change of clothes/shoes.
Bring water, snacks, a bag lunch (we will eat on the river), and sun protection.
Bring any medication you may need for an emergency such as a bee sting, asthma attack, or diabetic shock.
If you need to contact staff the day of the trip, the park cell phone is: (910)988-4094
A waitlist will be used once class registration is full. Please call (910)433-1018 to be added to the waiting list.
